September Station is the place at La Cuevita beach where the eggs are protected at the "tortugario". |
There is also a visitors cabin with bed rooms and rooms for hamacs, dinning room and bathrooms. You can rent a hamac if you don't carry one. |
Directions
The first port of arrival is the town of El Valle. From Bogota or Medellin, by airplane to Bahia Solano (1 h.), and then by car to El Valle (1 h.). From Buenaventura by boat (6 h.).
From El valle, you must cross the bridge and walk along La Cuevita beach. It will take about an hour to arrive.
You can also rent a horse and take the road (trocha) to Utria Park. In this case you would better hire a guide, so you won't get lost. To get horses you may make reservations in advance. It takes about 45 minutes to arrive to the station.
Cost
Payments must be made in cash. If you want to pay by credit card you can make an advance reservation here. Refunds will be made if you cancel at least three days in advance. A 10% fee will be charged. Costs are shown in colombian pesos.
Daily entrance: $10,000
One night stay: $50,000
One week stay: $200,000
One meal: $5,000

One horse rent (3 hours): $20,000
Things to do
The station offers a please to have a nice day at the beach, surfing, horse riding and walking.
You can also go walking to visit Utria National Park, La Cuevita creek mouth and the town of El Valle, where people go to dance and taste the regional food.
Nuqui and Bahia Solano, the major towns around offer the possibility to practice sea sports like fishing, surfing, yatching and scuba diving.
